About Me
Peter Vu
Coach
My training background started when I was 16 training for basketball, football, and track. I began training, I was 135 lbs. By graduation I was 160 lbs. This was done through guidance, mentorship, my dedication to compete at the highest level; treating every day as an opportunity to get bigger, stronger, and faster. My dedication to be the best possible athlete, leader, and teammate made me very focused to training sessions when I was in the gym and kitchen, since food fueled my progress.
In 2010, I enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Electrical Mechanical Engineering Officer, where I would serve nationally and internationally for 13 years. During my time in the military I had many leadership and mentorship opportunities. I worked with, trained, educated, and led soldiers daily. I had a duty to ensure I remained at the highest level of physical fitness to lead from the front and not cower behind others. While in the military, my dedication to fitness would lead me into competitive bodybuilding for a time.
Even though bodybuilding was only a 4-year stint, it forced me to stay focused even more on my nutrition and workouts. I ended my bodybuilding career in 2015 with my best finish of 3rd overall at a regional show. After bodybuilding, I found my athletic calling: powerlifting.
Powerlifting is where things got interesting. I started competing for my unit against other soldiers within our brigade. My first competition was very lackluster; I finished in the top 25 soldiers within the brigade. Fast forward to February of 2023, I created a high-performance team within my unit. I coached them to a first-place finish, and I won best lifter at the meet. My current best competition total is 1603 lbs; squat - 595 lbs, bench - 408 lbs, deadlift - 600 lbs, with a Wilks score of 467.
